The Country Market upholds high standards in everything it does. We know that our customers want the best of local produce and that is what we produce.
Food products
All our foods are freshly made in domestic kitchens registered with the local authority and made by experienced cooks who all have food safety certificates. The foods we make do not contain additives such as artificial food colourings, flavourings or preservatives and the cooks use the best local ingredients when ever possible. None of the food has been frozen prior to sale, so can be frozen at home if required.
If producers have products for sale they will usually be at the market and will be happy to answer any questions you may have about their products.
If you have specific dietary requirements there is usually a cook able to make you goodies you can eat!
Fresh Vegetables, plants and cut flowers
The vegetables on offer at the market have been grown locally on smallholdings and in gardens. They are harvested fresh to come to market, so are always seasonal. (sorry no tomatoes mid-winter!).
Some are grown without chemical input, please check with the growers. Plants are also grown locally by skilled gardeners, as are the cut flowers, so no air miles involved. Flower arrangements are freshly made for each market.
Crafts
You will find all manner of crafts at the market - things for your house, for your family and gifts and cards for every occasion. The crafts comply with trading standard where they apply, such as fire safety requirements. Material used in production are either new or good quality 'up-cycled'. The skill of the producer will be evident.
These standards mean you can buy anything from the market with confidence.
